Last time, we read about a great multitude of believers in heaven (Revelation 7:9-14). However, life on Earth was often difficult for them. We read in verse 16: “They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.” During the great tribulation, there was hunger and thirst, burning heat, and the scorching sun. Life was often hard. There was always a thirst for God and His righteousness. But look, here is He who is the Living Water and the Bread of Life. There is never any shortage in heaven. There is no distress, no trouble, no persecution, no mourning. There is peace...
Look at how they stand there. We read: “palm branches are in their hands.” (verse 9) These were also in the hands of the people of Jerusalem when they welcomed the Lord Jesus on Palm Sunday (John 12:13). These branches symbolize the victory that God will accomplish. We also see palm branches during the Feast of Tabernacles. This feast celebrates how God led the people out of Egypt, redeemed them, guided them through the desert for 40 years, and finally brought them into Canaan (Lev. 23:40).
In heaven, God is served in perfection. We read in verse 15b: “They serve Him day and night in His temple.” There is one great hymn of praise with the most glorious Psalms to God's glory. We read in verse 10: “Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.” They are completely satisfied with God the Father and the Lamb. They are everything to them. From them, they received grace upon grace, love, righteousness, holiness, eternal life, yes, everything... And when their song of praise sounds, all in heaven join in like a round. We read in verse 12: "Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.” A double Amen. It is completely certain. God is the one who deserves all honor. Between this double Amen lies a sevenfold praise of God. Seven words with which He receives all honor. So, in great reverence, everyone falls down before the Lord and worships Him... A heavenly liturgy, in all its imperfection, our earthly liturgy may already join in...
